H.S. DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Educational Talent Search will meet on Monday, February 20, 2017.  Students are reminded that they must check in with their teachers before reporting to the meetings.  The schedule is as follows: 

2nd Period – SENIORS in the COMMONS AREA:  Jasmine Bauer, Nicholas Birks, Eliza Grabill, Kourtney Grimm, Sam Gross, Kody Niehaus, Ronnie Sorensen

3rd Period – FRESHMEN & SOPHORMORES in the ICN ROOM:  Grant Behrens, Christian Birks, Joanna Freese, Renee Grimm, Emily Kerkhoff, Miranda Lingle, Mya Nelson, Carter Sorensen, Jessica Swanson, Grace Daiker, Kylie Gruhn, Abby Gruhn, Tyler Henkelman, Jarod Henkelman, Abby Lingle, Dylan Spies.

4th Period – JUNIORS in the ICN ROOM:  Tiffani Beck, Lucas Brown, Ashlee Brus, Taylor

All boys planning on going out for track this spring need to attend a meeting during seminar on Wednesday, February 22 in the library.  Please bring a writing utensil with you. Practice will begin on Monday, February 27.  If you have any questions, please talk to Mr. Vanderhorst.

On Wednesday, all speech students who are attending speech contest on Saturday MUST meet in the commons during seminar for a brief meeting to go over details for contest.  

Individual Speech Participants:  Please pick up a schedule and permission slip from a speech coach for Saturday's district contest at Manson.  Return signed by Thursday.

In celebration of National FFA week next week, here are the following “dress up”  days:

Monday: Dress like a farmer day

Tuesday: Drive your tractor to school & dress as a farm animal day

Wednesday: Official Dress Day

Thursday: FFA Chapter T-shirt day

Remember, dress must adhere to the school dress code and must be school appropriate.  Everyone is welcome to participate.

The Manning Rec Center will be starting a lifeguarding class on Sunday, March 5 at 12:00 p.m.  Students must be 15 years of age in order to take the class.  The cost of the class is $175.  Students wanting to take the class need to sign up at the Rec Center.  If you have any questions, call Cory Arp at the Rec.

Reminder to Fine Arts students who are wanting to go Jersey Boys:  Permission forms along with payment are due Friday, March 3 and can be turned into Ms. Book, Mr. Struve, or Sonia in the high school office. A limited number of tickets are available, so be sure to get your form turned in early to reserve your spot!

Senior and/or baby pictures are still needed from the following Seniors: Collin Bandow, Jasmine Bauer, Nick Birks, Mackenzie Brandt, Sam Ebelhare, Lexi Fineran, Austin Frank, Jaiden Garrison, Kelli Grimm, Scott Halbur, Klayton Heiman, David Hulsebus, Alexis Karsten, Justin Macumber, Hunter Miller, Rylie Muhlbauer, Kody Niehaus, Keaton Otto, Grace Sextro, and Ben Wegner. See Mr. Lahndorf ASAP and he will let you know which are still needed.

Order forms for the Iowa Wild hockey game on Saturday, March 18 are available in the H.S. office.  The high school choir will be singing the National Anthem at this event.  Orders along with payment are due back to Ms. Book by Saturday, March 4.

Remember to order your 2016-2017 yearbook! Order forms are available from Mr. Lahndorf or the H.S. office.  Orders along with payment will be taken until Friday, March 31st.

F.Y.I. - Influenza - The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses.  Influenza is a highly contagious virus that affects mainly the nose, throat, chest, and lungs.  It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.  The best way to prevent the flu is by getting a flu vaccination each year.  SYMPTOMS of Influenza include:  Fever over 100 degrees (must be fever free without over the counter medication for 24 hours), Headache, Extreme tiredness, Dry cough, Sore throat, Runny or Stuffy nose, Muscle aches, Stomach symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, also can occur but are more common in children than adults.  IF YOU GET THE FLU:  STAY HOME FROM SCHOOL.  Make sure and get plenty of rest and water.  Over the counter medications may relieve symptoms.  Consult your doctor.
