Regular Board Meeting
December 21, 2017 – 7:30 A.M.
Manning High School STEM BEST Classroom
The meeting was called to order @ 7:31 a.m. by President Heller. Directors present were Heller, Hansen, Ferneding, Maas, and Potthoff. Meiners and Reischl were absent. Others in attendance were Superintendent Miller, Secretary North, Principal Wall, and visitor Mike Blum.
Motion by Hansen, second by Maas to approve agenda and motion carried unanimously.
Communication – Directors were given information on IASB Day on the Hill Conference to be held on January 30, 2018.
Motion by Ferneding, second by Potthoff to approve the consent agenda (minutes from previous meetings, financial reports, and board bills) and the motion carried unanimously.
Principal Wall reported on the Districts Fall Academic Achievement Awards, the art on Hwy 141 which was done with collaboration with some of our districts students, the session he took at the ISFLC conference, and the wrap-up of semester tests. Superintendent Miller reported on the session he took at the ISFLC conference, the Iowa Schools Report Card which he will go into more detail at the January meeting, the startup of a communication plan for the district, scheduling of a meet and confer with the association for the upcoming negotiations and that the health insurance was going to go up significantly again this year.
Motion by Ferneding, second by Potthoff to approve Modified Supplemental Drop Out Prevention in the amount of $171,276.00 for 2017-2018 and the motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Ferneding, second by Maas to modify the Early Retirement criteria to be 55 years of age by August 30, 2018 instead of June 30, 2018 and motion carried unanimously.
There being no further business, motion by Maas, second by Ferneding to adjourn. Motion carried and meeting adjourned at 7:50 a.m.
The next meeting will be January 18, 2018 in the Irwin Elementary School library at 7:00 p.m.
