Business/Trade Fair at the HS a Great Experience for All

On Wednesday, Dec. 7, IKM-Manning High School was fortunate enough to have 19 different businesses/organizations participate in a Business/Trade Fair in the high school gym. In attendance were Accura HealthCare, AMVC, Bank Iowa (Manilla), Carroll Broadcasting, Dahl Air Conditioning and Heating, Emerge Marketing Solutions, FSC, Holistic Health, Kerkhoff Financial Coaching, LifeSkills Connection, Loess Hills Agriculture in the Classroom, Manning Police Department, Manning Regional Healthcare, Nexgen Ag Supply, Puck Enterprise, Reitan Time Rental, Ten Point Construction, Van Wall Equipment, and Veterinary Associates of Manning. Every business/organization had their own table (or two!), with a variety of materials that helped show what they are all about. There were hand-outs, displays, goodies for the students, etc.
The high school students went into the fair, a grade-level at a time, and were able to have really great conversations with our business/trade representatives about careers in their respective areas, high school classes that would be beneficial, skills that are essential for success (including 21st century kinds of skills), and so much more. There were even conversations about potential employment opportunities!
We are very thankful to have businesses in the area that care so much about our students and are so willing to help educate them as to what is available. Our students learned that they have many opportunities, right here close to home!
