MANNING, IA — The IKM-Manning Community School District School Board would like to provide an update on the superintendent hiring process. The board recently met with staff at Grundmeyer Leader Services to review the candidate pool and conduct an interview with a potential shared superintendent candidate.

The position was posted and resulted in 10 candidates, including eight male candidates, one female candidate, and one candidate who chose no response. Six of the candidates hold specialist/six-year degrees, while three others hold master’s degrees.

The district desires a superintendent who is an effective communicator, builds and fosters a community of care and support for students and staff, builds community and school relations through meaningful engagement with families and the communities, effectively manages district resources, and works effectively with the administrative and governance teams.

After the interview and review of candidates’ application materials, references, licensure verification, the board decided to pursue an operational sharing agreement with Dr. Angela Huseman.

As superintendent of the Tri-Center CSD, Dr. Angela Huseman has overseen the district’s operations, prepared and maintained the district’s budget, and added three-year-old preschool and before/after-school care. Since 2016, Huseman has participated in the Iowa Association of School Boards’ Iowa Superintendents Finance and Leadership Consortium. She holds a doctorate degree in education and a specialist in education degree with superintendent licensure from Drake University. Previously, Huseman served as high school principal in Tri-Center.

Dr. Huseman was excited to accept the opportunity, saying, "I look forward to the mutual benefits that the IKM-Manning and Tri-Center Districts can reap from this relationship. I especially look forward to forging new relationships in the IKM-Manning District so we can work together to get the students what they need to continue to be successful."

Pending formal board approval, Dr. Huseman will transition the rest of the spring with current Superintendent, Trevor Miller, and officially begin leading the IKM-Manning Community School District on July 1, 2024.
